Week 3 - use of technology
Welcome to week three of my college class.
After looking at many useful websites for using technology in the classroom, I have selected some that I feel are extremely helpful. I will include all of the websites given but expand on specific ones.
Here's the list with links to each of the websites that can be useful to use in the classroom.
WordCloudThis is a tool for generating “word clouds” from text. The more frequent a word is used within a piece of text, the larger it will appear in the cloud.

Online Dictionaries
Most commonly used Online Dictionary:www.dictionary.com
The Cambridge Dictionaries Online has also idioms. Worth a trial:http://dictionary.cambridge.org/
Did you know Wikipedia has a dictionary called “Wiktionary”? Take a look here:http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/Wiktionary:Main_Page
Wordsmith has an option to choose from “beginner’s dictionary”, “children’s dictionary” and “advanced dictionary”. This is very useful for students who want to use an English English dictionary but need explanations in simple English:http://www.wordsmyth.net/
Visual DictionaryDifferent from any encyclopedia or from traditional online dictionaries, thesauri and glossaries because the images replace the words.http://www.infovisual.info/
Visual ThesaurusGraphically display words and their connections. Drag nodes and words around and save as an image to project on the board in class.http://graphwords.com/
Etymology - Word origin - is a fascinating field of study. Where do words come from? Etymology Online has the answer to all your questions:http://www.etymonline.com/
Creating a poem or a song? Looking for rhyming words? A rhyming dictionary is the answer to your prayers:http://www.rhymezone.com/

My second favorite is the Simple Wikipedia. I love how it can be inclusive for all levels of learners along with allowing students to research topics just as any adult would do so but in a way that they can understand the vocabulary. This allows them to be without limits which is a great feeling. So much can be done with the access to this website.
I hope you enjoyed my extremely long post. I wanted to include all the websites that I was provided with from my Professor for anyone to use.
Enjoy~
