Week 6
Technology use for speaking and writing in the classroom.
First of all, I would begin my class by teaching them how to write essays with this amazing video. It's a must watch. Really fun yet informing!

Using debate is a really good way to have students research ideas, write them down and then speak while debating. By using topics that they are interested in, this allows for the student's to have more desire to speak because they can be passionate about the topics, while making it fun or even funny!
A great website for this is https://idebate.org/debatabase There are many different topics such as culture, health and philosophy to choose from.
Using voice note technology within the classroom is a fun, interesting way to get the students to speak! It gives them incentive/motivation and interest! They can speak with other students within the classroom or find other classrooms around the world to exchange with!
Here are some great websites about this topic:
100 Ways to Use VoiceThread in Education
Spelling can be made to be fun! Word games and activities make it less intimidating and more fun!
The kids can have fun while learning together. I played some and they're pretty fun! I would let them choose which ones they want to play and have 10 minute spelling bee time to play their spelling games! I would also encourage playing these at home!

Prewriting can be difficult for some but by using technology to help guide prewriting, this can surely help! It helps them map out their ideas and lead to better writing! I would let them choose which ones they want to use but I enjoy the graphic organizers and wise mapping which help organize and help them become better writers!

create fictional SMS dialogues can be found here:
Technology also helps with simplifying their English and automatic spelling checkers and grammar correctors.
Twitter is a nice tool to practice writing short messages. Here some ideas on how to use Twitter in class.
Post writing
Students can create mock newspaper articles! Really fun way to have the students write! I love this because it seems so real and again almost hides the fact that they're doing educational activities that help them learn! It seems just like a fun creative game!
I would have my students free books from their writing. My students can be authors and illustrators of the classbook.
This is such an amazing idea because it gets them involved and it also allows them to make free books which could be used again and really gives them something to work towards!
Publish a book while recording voice on this website! http://littlebirdtales.com/\
I would probably combine use of these with a project and have them use the prewriting websites, writing websites and lastly have them make a class book or newspaper articles to present to the class! I hope you've enjoyed all of these websites and ideas! Feel free to comment with your own ideas of how to use them!
